Chic Bebe Cotton Fabric Has Finally Arrived at Sew Graceful

The Chic Bebe fabric collection by David Textiles has finally arrived!  Well...not the entire collection is here.  I was expecting this collection in July and four bolts arrived late last week.  Better late than never!   

This is a wonderful quality cotton at a very reasonable price.  All of the fabrics the I received are in the pink and chocolate colorway and include the pink chocolate ornate baroque, pink chocolate cheetah, pink chocolate dots, and chocolate pink dots.  I'm still waiting on the chocolate pink zebra though.

I'm also still waiting for the chocolate and aqua colorway. 

I'll update as more fabrics from this collection arrive in the studio.

Quantities are limited and I don't know if I'll be able to get more fabric in this collection once it sells out.

Sew Graceful is In the Studio Again---Romantic Cameo Rose Fabric Tags

I've decided to make the time to create something in my studio at least every weekend.  Weekdays are so busy with all of the different schedules we have.   I need the weekend to unwind, be creative, and step away from the hustle and bustle of modern day life.

Each beautiful romantic tag is handcrafted from blue fabric cameos. The cameos feature a central blue rose design surrounded by graceful swirling patterns. The outer swirls are accented with glitter, and the tag is finished with a velveteen ribbon to add an extra bit of pizazz. A card stock backing provides stiffness and the perfect surface for writing a special note.  These tags are a perfect addition to that special gift.  They can also be used in your scrapbooking, crafting, collage, or altered art projects.

Fun Retro 70s Apple Chocolate Owls Craft Apron

It feels great to be back in the studio sewing and crafting again.  My newest creation is a fun little retro craft apron.  I was lucky enough to bid on a lot of old textiles at an estate auction that no one else wanted.  Someone asked me why I would want all that old "worthless" fabric.  My response...you never know when you find a diamond in the rough.  At the bottom of that box was an old,very used, very worn craft apron.  I loved the design...but the fabric was just too damaged to be salvaged.  The design for this craft apron is based on that old diamond in the rough.

With a fun, retro feel, this chocolate owls craft apron is made from three different fabrics from the Timeless Treasures 70s Apple fabric collection.  The pockets feature the cream trees on dots, the top panel features the oh so adorable chocolate owls fabric, and the ties and trim are crafted from the red stitch scroll spirals fabric.

This is the perfect little apron for carrying all of those sewing or crafting supplies.  With three 2" pockets and two 7" pockets you can carry your pencils, pens, pad of paper, measuring tape, rotary cutter...and whatever other little supplies you need.  Ready to ship.

I've never seen a rose I didn't love. From the first blossom of spring, gently swaying in the breeze, to an intricately stitched needlepoint rich in history, I love them all. Silk roses mixed with a bunch of silk hydrangeas, gracing a vase on the mantle. Cabbage roses on a sugar bowl and creamer, brought out for a grandmother's tea. Colorful rose cupcakes scented as beautifully as they look.

Roses represent so many wonderful things and are often used to celebrate special milestones such as weddings, births and anniversaries. We might write a special announcement on stationery with long-stemmed yellow roses lying against a background of a French poem. Use white satin roses to create wedding memories in a vintage box.

Roses have also been used throughout the centuries in home décor. Like wild pink roses painted on porcelain china plates. A crystal bud vase embellished with a pink silk rose, ready to hold a freshly picked rose bud from the garden. A French ribbon rose attached to a crocheted cushion in the living room. Hand built ceramic roses to use as drawer pulls, or as a magnet to hang up a special photograph.

Milliners used silk roses to embellish the finest hats; perhaps one covered with embroidered lace and handmade millinery roses. Seamstresses stitched the richest brocade drapes adorned with roses.  Grandmothers embroidered the most delicate rose patterns on tablecloths and handkerchiefs. Now we can give silky velvet rose pins a special corsage. For everyday occasions, you might wear a vintage pink rose apron or admire a rose-shaped pillow made of hot pink satin.

Throughout the years, famous artists have studied and painted every aspect of the rose. Antique lithographs and post cards from the 1800s grace our homes today with their everlasting beauty. From a rhapsody of roses printed on canvas and hung over a doorway to garlands of decal roses that make favorite items look hand painted, roses continue to gracefully fit every lifestyle and décor.
